Howdy, I’m Rob Baillieu, I’m a volunteer manager and consultant and have served in our emergency services for nearly 8 years. Now I’m your Independent candidate for Riversdale this Council election!
I have lived and worked in Hawthorn for my entire life. I’m a co-founder of Electrify Boroondara, a volunteer for numerous LGBTQIA+ organisations, and President of Voices of Kooyong - the largest volunteer organisation in Boroondara. I have extensive experience in operations, logistics, emergency management, and community organising.
Our incumbent Councillor Susan Biggar is not recontesting for election after 4 years of exemplary service. I’m standing now because Riversdale deserves a Councillor who listens to the community, works hard, and can be trusted to deliver high quality reliable services.
I’ve doorknocked thousands of homes across Riversdale and Boroondara asking residents a simple question. What can Boroondara Council do better? Residents have told me:
We want Council to fix our Climate Action plan and help residents install solar and batteries to lower power bills. In addition, to installing EV charging stations to help EV uptake and protecting and expanding our tree canopy, parks, and gardens.
We want sustainable development to improve housing affordability so our kids can live where they grew up but in a way that protects local heritage and in consultation with the community.
We want council to fix potholes in a timely manner and improve the accessibility of local public transport for wheelchair users and people with prams. In addition, we want a Councillor who will advocate for the removal of Glenferrie Rd Rail Crossing and reduce traffic congestion.
Importantly, we want a council that gets the basics right. Focusing on local issues. Keeping rates low. Keeping the community safe and clean. Supporting local schools, businesses, sporting clubs, libraries, and other amenities.
So that’s what I’ll do. I’ll deliver what matters for our community.
